“It would be easy to think that somebody up there has got a grudge against us!” (Queensland Premier Anna Bligh) Ah, now you’re getting it!

We have seen the mighty acts of God being displayed in Australia.  The media, and our leaders have repeatedly ascribed credit to Mother Nature for these things; but God will not be mocked. For all the power of these events that we have seen, nothing is more obvious than the display of God’s mercy. These events had the potential to inflict massive fatalities, however, given the widespread destruction, there has been relatively minimal loss of life. God is showing his hand to Australia and giving the nation opportunity to repent and return to Him. Make no mistake, Australia is the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit, and we are seeing Him do a work in His land.

Australia has seen floods, cyclones, fires, and now…MORE flooding and fires! We can be sure that the Lord is passing by;

“11…And behold, the Lord passed by and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:12-13

May we be watching and listening for that still small voice of the Lord.

“Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” Malachi 4:5

“Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things.’”

“1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!’” Matthew 3:1-2

Many Christians believe that prior to the Lord’s final return, the Spirit of Elijah will be manifest. In a recently completed study of this prophet, God’s Word offers a clear view of the heart of this humble man of God. Whether you believe that the Spirit of Elijah, or Elijah the man will return, one should know Elijah’s message. What will be the message prior to the Lord’s return? It will be the same.  Really, it has always been the same.

“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.” 1 Kings 18:21

Elijah was a man who openly declared the goodness and mercy of God, however, he also spoke the words of God’s judgment. There are many instances in the books of the Kings when Elijah pronounced God’s judgment; the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18); Ahab and Jezebel (1 Kings 21); Ahaziah (2 Kings 1). It is my hope that Australia does not “answer Him not a word” when God has given us this opportunity to return to Him. Throughout the Bible when we see the mighty works of God displayed, His judgment is sure to follow.

In our home meeting, we are working our way through the Book of Acts. Last night we read the passage in which Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit and were struck dead. (Acts 5:1-11) The discussion which followed brought up an important observation. When the Holy Spirit is poured out in such a measure, power follows. It is clear from this passage that God does not tolerate hypocrisy and the Holy Spirit power is strong in judgment against it! We often think of walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, of miracles and wonders such are mentioned in early church scriptures, but we must also remember, it is a power that can and will be deadly!

There is a message in the current acts of God that we are seeing here in Australia and around the world, and that message is simple; “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” For all the mighty power displayed, may we not miss His still small voice leading and calling those who are His to The Way. I believe that we are in the final hours.  People get ready!

“In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.” Matthew 24:33 (NLT)

We often talk about walking in obedience.  How we must be willing to obey, but I tell you, one cannot obey if one is not willing to listen and be instructed.  We must be willing to listen to God, by spending time in His word and in His presence.  We must shut out the clamor of this world and quiet ourselves before the Lord.  Here we will hear His voice and receive the security and peace which comes from knowing God.

We see around us, a world walking in rebellion; nations of people living for the god of ‘self’.  We also see, churches filled with people who file in on Sundays to worship, and file out only to gorge themselves on the delicacies of this world and be slaves to mammon and the temporary security it brings.  It is a hypocrisy and an abomination!

“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;” Isaiah 30:1

As God begins to shake this world in an attempt to get the attention of many, we would do well to remember the past and listen.  “God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8

“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.  Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:11-12

The time is all but upon us, when the security found in possessions, governments, local authorities, even churches, will be stripped away.  Only those who are grounded securely in Jesus Christ will be able to have peace and life amidst a world gone mad.  As the earth begins to shake under the power of God’s hand, hear the call to repentance.

Now is the time to forsake totally the things of this world, and put your trust wholly in Him.  The bible is full of His great and precious promises to those who are His children (2 Peter 1:4).  We can be sure of them if we are His.

God speaks.  He has spoken in the past, and it is written, that we may learn from it.  As He speaks now, may we all take heed!  The day is about to come when the final judgment will be spoken which will purge this world of sin and death.  Hallelujah!

I have just finished reading, “The Vision and Beyond” by David Wilkerson, and I will finish off with an exciting quote.

“The way tragedies and disasters are striking the earth with such frequency and intensity would suggest that the earth is suffering labor pains.  The Bible says God is going to create a new heaven and a new earth.  This old earth will pass away and melt with fervent heat.  The very elements are to be melted away.  We are witnessing not so much the death of an old world – but the birth of a new one.”  The Vision and Beyond, ch. 9.

Those who are secure in Jesus Christ can welcome this time knowing that God is in control, and can rejoice in the ever nearing Day of the Lord.  If these things do not bring you excitement and joy, draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.  May you urgently “hear what the spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:29)

David Wilkerson is a country preacher who went to New York and introduced young gang members to Jesus.  His book “The Cross and the Switchblade” is a testimony to God’s grace and power.

After having re-read the book a couple of months ago, I wondered what David Wilkerson was up to now.  How happy I am that I have found his blog of daily devotionals! DAVID WILKERSON TODAY contains daily morsels of goodness for your souls.  I encourage you to regularly read what he shares, and have added this blog to my blogroll.

David Wilkerson also has an urgent message to all who are equipped with eyes to see and ears to hear, regarding the lateness of the hour and events coming to pass shortly. A must read. May we all be constantly looking unto Jesus in these days to come.

My father-in-law heard this prophecy many years ago, and after re-discovering a copy of it, he shared it with us last night.  As we see once powerful and influential institutions financially crumble around us, we must see the hand of God in all things. As the first wind blows, let us hear what the spirit of God says to the churches…

A prophetic word to the church – given by David Minos midnight 6th April, 1987

The spirit of God would say to you that the wind of the Holy Spirit is blowing through the land.  The church however, is incapable of fully recognising this wind.  Just as your nation has given names to it’s hurricanes, so I have put My name on this wind.  This wind shall be named “Holiness unto the Lord”.

Because of a lack of understanding, some of My people will try to find shelter from the wind, but in so doing, they shall miss My work.  For this wind has been sent to blow through every institution that has been raised in My Name.  In those institutions that have substituted their name for Mine, they shall fall by the impact of My wind.  Those institutions shall fall like cardboard shacks in a gale.  Ministries that have not walked in up-righteousness before Me shall be broken and fall.

This is My Wind.

For this reason, man will be tempted to brand this as a work of satan, but do not be misled.  This is My Wind.  I cannot tolerate My church in its present form, nor will I tolerate it.  Ministries and organizations will shake and fall in the face of this wind and even some will seek to hide from that wind.  They shall not escape.  It shall blow against your lives and all around you will appear crumbling and so it shall.

But never forget, this is MY WIND, says the Lord.  With tornado force it will come and appear to leave devastation, but the word of the Lord comes and says, “Turn your face into the wind and let it blow, for only that which is not of Me shall be devastated.”  You must see this as necessary.

A second wind.

Be not dismayed for after this, My wind shall blow again.  Have you not read how My breath blew on the valley of dry bones?  So it shall breathe on you.  This wind will come in equal force as the first wind.  This wind too will have a name.  It shall be called “The Kingdom of God”.

It shall bring government and order.  Along with that, it shall bring My power.  The supernatural shall come in that wind.  The world will laugh at you because of the devastation of the first wind, but they will laugh no more.  For this wind will come with force and power that will produce the miraculous among My people and the fear of God shall fall on the nation.  My people will be willing in the day of My power says the Lord.  In the first wind that is upon you now, I shall blow out pride, lust, greed, competition and jealousy and you will feel devastated, but haven’t you read “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven?”  So out of your poverty of spirit, I will establish My kingdom.  Have you not read the kingdom of God is in the Holy Ghost?  So by My spirit, My kingdom will be established and made manifest.

Know this also, there will be those who will seek to hide from this present wind and they will try to flow in the second wind.  But again they will be blown away by it.  Only those who have turned their faces into the present wind shall be allowed to be propelled by the second wind.

You have longed for revival and a return of the miraculous and the supernatural.  You and your generation shall see it, but it shall only come by My process says the Lord.  The church of this nation cannot contain My power in its present form.  But as it turns to the wind of Holiness unto the Lord, it shall be purged and changed to contain my Glory.  This is the judgement that has begun to the house of God, but it is not the end.  When the second wind has come and brought in My harvest, then the end shall come.
